CELEBRATE DESIGN DAYS AT THE HOUSTON DESIGN DISTRICT

Spring design events tap design celebs for inspiration and insight April 5-6

HOUSTON – The Houston Design District is thrilled to host a line-up of design talent for its 2 nd
annual spring event, Design Days, on Wednesday, April 5 and Thursday, April 6. The two-day
event will showcase the latest in interior design with lectures, panel discussions and more. For

Wednesday, April 5: 10 a.m.
   Nina Magon, Nina Magon Studio

Hosted by James Craig Furnishings, Showroom 298 at The Houston Design Center
Kicking off the two-day event is Nina Magon, named Entrepreneur of the Year by Houston’s Asian
Chamber of Commerce late last year, Magon has taken her design firm beyond the usual
boundaries, with a 50-piece furniture collection with Universal Furniture, lighting collection, and
home goods featured recently at Bergdorf Goodman. In addition to putting her touch on beautiful
homes, both in the United States and internationally, through her interior design firm, Nina
Magon Studio, she has also designed exquisite retail and hospitality sites such as the new Zadok
Jewelers building and 51Fifteen Cuisine and Cocktails at Saks Fifth Avenue.

   Mary Lambrakos, Lambrakos Studio

Hosted by James Craig Furnishings, Showroom 298 at The Houston Design Center
Join Houston-based designer Mary Lambrakos, a rising star on the Texas design scene, as she
shares her insight for design and architecture that stands the test of time. A recent project
includes the dramatic transformation of a midcentury Brutalist-style building into a posh, modern
penthouse full of color, art and beautiful materials. She is a graduate of Rice University who
worked as a curator at the Menil Collection before launching her design firm, Lambrakos Studio.

   Gin Braverman, Gin Design Group and David Cordua

Hosted by Thorntree Slate & Marble, Showroom 167 at The Houston Design Center
Gin Braverman’s varied design career has taken her all over the world, but in recent years, she
has become a go-to designer for the hospitality industry. Gin Design Group’s list of hotspots in
Houston alone is lengthy, and includes restaurants such as Eunice, Ginger Kale, Goodnight
Charlies, Ruggles Green in The Woodlands and more. Joining Gin will be Chef David Cordua
who’s new Lymbar, designed by Gin Design Group, is a bar-forward restaurant he’s opened with
his father, Michael Cordua, in The Ion. An ambassador for Houston’s food community, David
Cordua has done much to promote the varied food scene in our diverse city.

   Lucinda Loya, Lucinda Loya Interiors

Hosted by Thorntree Slate & Marble, Showroom 167 at The Houston Design Center
Lucinda Loya is a nationally recognized interior designer, a Best Dressed Hall of Fame member,
and a fixture on the city’s philanthropic scene, leading by example with her work for child
advocacy, along with the arts and cultural organizations. She’s been named to the Salonniere 100
list of America’s most notable party hosts and her interior design style feels heavily influenced by
fashion and is found in homes and businesses all over the country. The homes she designs pop
with color and are filled with stylish and sexy furnishings and finishes.

Art, fashion and design all inform Nina Magon’s talented eye, and her business savvy comes from her
economics and finance degree from Southern Methodist University. Named Entrepreneur of the Year by
Houston’s Asian Chamber of Commerce late last year, Magon has taken her design firm beyond the
usual boundaries, with a 50-piece furniture collection with Universal Furniture, lighting collection with
Studio M Lighting, home goods featured recently at Bergdorf Goodman and Dekton slabs with Cosentino.
In addition to putting her touch on beautiful homes, both in the United States and internationally,
through her interior design firm, Nina Magon Studio, she has also designed exquisite retail and
hospitality sites such as the new Zadok Jewelers building and 51Fifteen Cuisine and Cocktails at Saks
Fifth Avenue.

MARY LAMBRAKOS
A Houstonian raised in a close-knit Greek-American family, Mary Lambrakos is a rising star on
the Texas design scene. Mary is a graduate of the esteemed Rice University with a degree in Art
History, specializing in modern and African art, and a focused study in English. Awarded a
prestigious Menil Fellowship, she then studied at The Menil Collection, leading her to be hired as
a curatorial assistant where she worked directly with curator Franklin Sirmans (now director of
Pérez Art Museum Miami). Today, Lambrakos’ formal education, far-flung global travels, and
passion for architectural and design history all inform her brilliant, intuitive approach to interior
design, spatial planning, furniture design, and art advisory services. Her recent work
transforming a high-profile, Brutalist concrete building into an elegant and modern penthouse
that serves as a testament to her hallmark ability to compose complex designs that resonate
deeply within their intended purpose and context. Mary’s interiors are carefully-considered,
masterfully constructed, and altogether unforgettable.
